Opera North

Diverse range of breaking-down techniques on: costumes, accessories, props, millinery and shoes. A variety of temporary and permanent dyeing and printing techniques, such as Dylon dyes, hot dye baths, Rosco paint dye, shibori, stencilling, printing, expandtex, foiling, mud and sweat effects using dyes, fuller earth dust application, and mixing wet and dried blood effects.  Attending fittings and meetings with Designers and Directors and taking the notes, assisting and preparing costumes for fittings.

Learning a more in-depth knowledge of the variation of textiles techniques required for film and theatre. Developing colour matching and technical white dyeing, incorporating numerous print techniques to replicate diverse textures. An extensive variation of permanent and temporary breaking-down techniques on garments such as sand-paper, stanely knife, cheese graters, Schmitz mud dye, dylon dyes, patch dyeing, blood effects, airbrush techniques, printing methods.
